2021 Benjamin Moore Color Trends

Color Trend Palette: Chic Neutrals & Earth Tones

One of my favorites takeaways from Benjamin Moore’s top color trends is that neutrals and earth tones rule the majority of the palette. Last year’s palette only listed two neutrals, and it set the tone for the year. After a chaotic 2020, Benjamin Moore knows exactly what we all need…inspiring, tranquil colors!

Kingsport Gray HC-86

My favorite neutral of this Benjamin Moore palette is Kingsport Gray HC-86, it’s a very traditional color that is listed in their “timeless” collection, but it’s also very contemporary. Due to this colors versatility, I have to list Kingsport Gray as my top paint color on the list for 2021!

Benjamin Moore Paint Color of the Year

My second favorite Benjamin Moore color for 2021 is Aegean Teal 2136-40 and it happens to be their 2021 color of the year! Aegean Teal is bright, cheery, but isn’t too heavy that it weighs down a room. It reminds me of a french chateau’s kitchen with black and white tile floors. Although it is the color of the year, I do believe that this is a timeless color for any room. Benjamin Moore labels this color as “harmonious”.

Gray Cashmere 2138-60

I’d also love to throw in Gray Cashmere 2138-60 on my favorites list. In conjunction to Aegean Teal, it’s a sea-foam green with hints of gray and blue. Personally, I would use this as an exterior color for painting a cedar shake shingle home with a bright white trim. For an interior paint project I’d use it in a pantry or powder room, possibly a music or art studio or office! It’s fresh, inspiring, inviting and calming all at once. I can see how this will be a classic for not just this year but years to come.

Hot Takes

I think it’s sure to be said that Benjamin Moore rarely misses. Their formulas are rich and velvety and it’s very easy to be drawn to any colors they say are going to be trends. But…I am in my feelings about a couple of these colors. In my personal life I’m drawn to texture and simplicity in color, which is what I take into account when styling my wardrobe and my home. I think I’m hardwired to be offended by the thought of putting a yellow on my walls. For this reason, Beacon Hill Damask HC-2 does not make my list of favorite Benjamin Moore colors for this year. However, if you’re in the mood for a cheery, yellow color you can find this in the Benjamin Moore “Historical” color section.

The only other color I question for this year is Foggy Morning 2106-70. Although it is neutral, this color has pink undertones. Typically that would be great for a girls bedroom or for a cute bathroom, but I think it’s a little deceiving upon first glance. So, I would not suggest using it as a “white” color.
